I started serving College Students lunches and waffle suppers in asmall way in my parlor and selling homemade candy. My business becamevery popular with the College Students and I was obliged to extend myfacilities.
So I had three rooms arched and made in one large room and decoratedvery prettily. The room seated 104 students very comfortably and wasvery popular among the students and their friends as it was one of themost attractive Tea Rooms established for College Women.

2 cups of butter or lard make 1 pound
4 cups of pastry or bread flour make 1 pound
3⁷⁄₈ cups of entire wheat flour make 1 pound
2²⁄₃ cups of oatmeal make 1 pound
4³⁄₄ cups of rolled oats make 1 pound
2 cups of granulated sugar make 1 pound
2²⁄₃ cups of powdered sugar make 1 pound
3 teaspoons make 1 tablespoon
16 tablespoons dry ingredient make 1 cup.

Four (4) lbs of rib beef, boil four or five hours, take out meat, skimoff all grease. Add one-half cup each of chopped carrots, potatoes,salt, pepper to taste. Makes three (3) quarts.
Take a fat chicken after cleaning, let it lay in fresh water an hour,boil the chicken at least two hours, let cool and skim off the fat andadd a little celery cut into bits, cup of rice and bits of choppedparsley. You can use the chicken either for salad or pressed chickenloaf.
