Excavation and analysis of the Harroun Site were carried out in 1957,1958, and 1959 as a part of the nationwide Inter-Agency ArcheologicalSalvage Project. Mound A was excavated by the National Park Servicein 1957; Mounds B, C, and D were excavated by The University of Texasin 1958 and 1959 under the terms of a Memorandum of Agreement betweenthe National Park Service and The University of Texas providingfor archeological salvage at Ferrell’s Bridge Reservoir.
This report was prepared in accordance with the terms of the Memorandumof Agreement (Contract No. 14-10-333-422) and was submittedto the National Park Service in April, 1959, under the title, “The HarrounSite: A Fulton Aspect Component, Ferrell’s Bridge Reservoir.” Asprovided in Article I (f) of the contract, the letter of transmittal fromThe University of Texas and the letter of acceptance from the NationalPark Service are here reproduced.
