It is always a pleasure to me to speak on the subject of this volume. Ithink I would rather preach about the Word of God than anything elseexcept the Love of God; because I believe it is the best thing in thisworld.
We cannot overestimate the importance of a thorough familiarity with theBible. I try to lose no opportunity of urging people by every means inmy power to the constant study of this wonderful Book. If through thepages that follow, I can reach still others and rouse them to read theirBibles, not at random but with a plan and purpose, I shall be indeedthankful.
When thou goest, it shall lead thee;
When thou sleepest, it shall keep thee;
When thou awakest, it shall talk with thee.
—Prov. vi. 22.
