The unlimited desire of knowledge which now pervadesevery class of Society, suggested the design, of not onlyreprinting, without abridgment or curtailment, in a cheapform, several interesting and valuable Publications, hithertoplaced beyond the reach of a great proportion of readers, but also of issuing, in that form, many Original Treatises,by some of the most Distinguished Authors of the age.Such is the object of the present Work, which is publishingin a series of Volumes, under the general title of“Constable’s Miscellany of Original and SelectedPublications, in the various Departments of Literature,Science, and the Arts.”

Immediately after its commencement, in January 1827,this Miscellany met with extensive encouragement, whichhas enabled the Publishers to bring forward a series ofworks of the very highest interest, and at unparalleled lowprices. Fifty-two volumes are already before the Public, forming thirty-four distinct works, any of which may bepurchased separately. Every volume contains a VignetteTitle-page; and numerous other illustrations, such asMaps, Portraits, &c. are occasionally given.

Being intended for all ages as well as ranks, Constable’sMiscellany is printed in a style and form which combineat once the means of giving much matter in a small space, with the requisites of great clearness and facility.

A Volume, containing at least 324 pages, appears everythree weeks, price 3s. 6d., a limited number being printedon fine paper, with early impressions of the Vignettes,price 5s.
